     Past Perfect Tense .

🟡 Introduction (परिचय)

Past Perfect Tense इंग्लिश ग्रामर का एक ऐसा टेंस है जो यह दर्शाता है कि कोई कार्य भूतकाल में किसी दूसरे कार्य से पहले पूरा हो चुका था।

जब Past (भूतकाल) की दो घटनाएं हों, तो पहले पूरी हुई घटना को Past Perfect Tense और बाद वाली को Simple Past Tense में लिखा जाता है।

🟢 पहचान (Identification)

ऐसे वाक्य जिनमें ‘चुका था’, ‘चुकी थी’, ‘चुके थे’, ‘गया था’, ‘गई थी’, ‘गए थे’ जैसे शब्द आएं, वे Past Perfect Tense के होते हैं।

ये Tense उस कार्य को दर्शाता है जो भूतकाल में पहले ही समाप्त हो चुका होता है।

1. मैं स्कूल जाने से पहले नाश्ता कर चुका था।

2. वह मेरे आने से पहले जा चुका था।

3. हम फिल्म शुरू होने से पहले थिएटर पहुँच चुके थे।

4. बारिश शुरू होने से पहले किसान खेत में काम कर चुका था।

🔁 Before / After वाले Sentences – Rules और Examples

✅ Rule 1 – जब दो Past की घटनाएं हों:

पहले खत्म हुआ कार्य → Past Perfect

बाद में हुआ कार्य → Simple Past

✅ Rule 2 – If "Before" is used:

Structure:

Past Perfect + before + Simple Past

📌 पहले काम को – Past Perfect

📌 बाद के काम को – Simple Past

Examples:

1. The train had left before we reached the station.

👉 ट्रेन छूट चुकी थी इससे पहले कि हम स्टेशन पहुँचे।

2. I had finished my work before the teacher asked.

👉 मैंने अपना काम पूरा कर लिया था, इससे पहले कि टीचर ने पूछा।

3. He had gone before I arrived.

👉 वह जा चुका था इससे पहले कि मैं आया।

✅ Rule 3 – If "After" is used:

Structure:

Simple Past + after + Past Perfect

📌 पहले काम को – Past Perfect

📌 बाद के काम को – Simple Past

Examples:

4. I went to sleep after I had completed my homework.

👉 मैंने होमवर्क पूरा करने के बाद सोने गया।

5. He stood up after he had heard the news.

👉 वह खबर सुनने के बाद खड़ा हुआ।

6. She started cooking after she had cleaned the kitchen.

👉 उसने रसोई साफ करने के बाद खाना बनाना शुरू किया।

7. The audience clapped after the singer had finished the song.

👉 गायिका के गाना खत्म करने के बाद दर्शकों ने तालियां बजाईं।

8. I entered the class after the teacher had started the lesson.

👉 मैं पढ़ाई शुरू हो जाने के बाद कक्षा में घुसा।

✅ Affirmative Sentences (सकारात्मक वाक्य)

Structure:

👉 Subject + had + V³ + object

Examples:

He had gone to school.

👉 वह स्कूल जा चुका था।

We had completed the project.

👉 हमने प्रोजेक्ट पूरा कर लिया था।

❌ Negative Sentences (नकारात्मक वाक्य)

Structure:

👉 Subject + had + not + V³ + object

Examples:

She had not cooked food.

👉 उसने खाना नहीं पकाया था।

I had not seen the movie.

👉 मैंने फिल्म नहीं देखी थी।

❓ Interrogative Sentences (प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य)

Structure:

👉 Had + Subject + V³ + object?

Examples:

Had you completed your work?

👉 क्या तुमने अपना काम पूरा कर लिया था?

Had they reached before us?

👉 क्या वे हमसे पहले पहुँच चुके थे?

🟣 Summary Table (संक्षेप में):

Past Perfect का प्रयोग दो past events में पहले हुए action के लिए होता है।

Helping verb: had (सभी subjects के साथ)

Main verb: Third form (V³)

पहचान: "चुका था", "चुकी थी", "चुके थे"

दो actions में – पहले वाले को Past Perfect, बाद वाले को Simple Past बनाएं।

Before: Past Perfect पहले, Simple Past बाद

After: Simple Past पहले, Past Perfect बाद

Negative: had + not + V³
