 Phrase ( वाक्यांश) क्या है ?

Definition -

A group of words ,which don't have full meaning and don't have any subject and verb in it ,is called a Phrase.

When we add these words in a sentence it give complete meaning.

शब्दों का ऐसा समूह जिसमें न पूरा अर्थ हो और न ही कोई कर्ता (subject) या क्रिया (verb) हो, उसे Phrase कहा जाता है। इसे हिंदी में वाक्यांश कहते है।

Examples of Phrases:-

In the garden

At the bus stop.                           

On the table

Very beautiful

A group of players

After the match

These words are useless untill we add them in a sentence to make a proper sentence.

इन शब्दों का ऐसे कोई पूरा अर्थ नहीं है जब तक हम इनको किसी वाक्य में शामिल नहीं करते हैं।

Rahul plays in the garden.

In the garden को वाक्य में प्रयोग किया गया है तो पूरा अर्थ निकल रहा है आप कह सकते है कि यह वाक्य को पूरा कर रहा है।

A Noun Phrase is a group of words that works like a noun in a sentence. It can be the subject, object, or complement of a verb.

Noun Phrase शब्दों का एक समूह होता है जो वाक्य में संज्ञा की तरह कार्य करता है। यह कर्ता (subject), कर्म (object), या पूरक (complement) हो सकता है।

✅ How to Identify a Noun Phrase? (Noun Phrase कैसे पहचानें?)

👉 If the group of words answers "Who?" or "What?" in a sentence, it is a Noun Phrase.

👉 अगर शब्दों का समूह "कौन?" या "क्या?" का उत्तर देता है, तो वह Noun Phrase होता है।

✅ Structure of a Noun Phrase:

[Determiner + Adjective + Noun]

Example: The beautiful flower

हिंदी: वह सुंदर फूल

Sometimes it includes more words:

[Modifier + Determiner + Adjective + Noun + Post-modifier]

Example: The boy with a blue cap

3. The girl with long hair is my cousin.

👉 कौन मेरी बहन है? – लंबे बालों वाली लड़की (Noun Phrase)

4. The sound of heavy rain woke me up.

👉 What woke me up? – The sound of heavy rain (Noun Phrase)

👉 मुझे किसने जगाया? – तेज बारिश की आवाज (Noun Phrase

An Adjective Phrase is a group of words that works like an adjective and describes a noun or pronoun.

Adjective Phrase शब्दों का समूह होता है जो एक विशेषण की तरह कार्य करता है और किसी noun या pronoun का विस्तार करता है।

👉 If the group of words describes a noun or pronoun and answers "Which one?", "What kind?", or "How many?", it is an Adjective Phrase.

👉 अगर शब्दों का समूह किसी noun या pronoun के बारे में बताता है और 'कौन सा?', 'कैसा?', या 'कितना?' का उत्तर देता है तो वह Adjective Phrase है।

Adverb Phrase शब्दों का समूह होता है जो वाक्य में क्रिया, विशेषण या किसी दूसरे क्रिया विशेषण का विस्तार करता है।

✅ How to Identify an Adverb Phrase?

👉 If the group of words answers "When?", "Where?", "Why?", "How?", or "To what extent?", it is an Adverb Phrase.

👉 अगर शब्दों का समूह 'कब?', 'कहाँ?', 'क्यों?', 'कैसे?' या 'कितना?' का उत्तर देता है तो वह Adverb Phrase है।

✅ Structure of an Adverb Phrase:

[Preposition + Noun] / [Modifier + Preposition + Noun]

A Prepositional Phrase is a group of words that begins with a preposition and ends with a noun or pronoun. It can act like an adjective or adverb in a sentence.

Prepositional Phrase शब्दों का वह समूह होता है जो preposition (पूर्वसर्ग) से शुरू होता है और noun या pronoun पर समाप्त होता है। यह वाक्य में कभी-कभी Adjective Phrase या Adverb Phrase की तरह कार्य करता है।

✅ How to Identify a Prepositional Phrase? (Prepositional Phrase कैसे पहचानें?)

👉 अगर शब्दों का समूह preposition से शुरू होकर noun या pronoun तक जाता है, तो वह Prepositional Phrase होता है।

👉 यह सवालों के जवाब देता है: Where? (कहाँ?), When? (कब?), Which? (कौन सा?) आदि।

A Verb Phrase is a group of words that includes one main verb and one or more helping (auxiliary) verbs.

Verb Phrase शब्दों का वह समूह होता है जिसमें एक मुख्य क्रिया (Main Verb) और एक या एक से अधिक सहायक क्रियाएँ (Helping Verbs) होती हैं।

✅ How to Identify a Verb Phrase? (Verb Phrase कैसे पहचानें?)

👉 अगर शब्दों का समूह Helping Verb + Main Verb का combination हो, तो वह Verb Phrase होता है।

👉 यह पूरे sentence में action या state को व्यक्त करता है।

✅ Structure of a Verb Phrase:

[Helping Verb(s) + Main Verb]

हिंदी: काम कर रही है
